OPC'S - NATURE'S HEALERS

Oligomeres Procyanodoliques might look and sound a little tricky to pronounce, but the organic acid activity it produces in the body is extremely powerful ... and positive!

Oligomeres Procyanodoliques is French for "procyanidolic oligomers," a term given to a group of flavonoids called proanthocyanidins, or OPC's, for short.

OPC's are fast becoming highly regarded in the alternative health scene as Nature's Healers, due to recent clinical trials that show OPC activity to be helpful in many areas.

Recent studies have shown that OPC activity is helpful to those who suffer from Arthritis, varicose veins, hemorrhoids, allergies, sun damaged skin, facial wrinkles, PMS, digestive tract ulcers, and many age related problems such as declining eyesight and brain function.

So -- what exactly are these OPC's and where can you find them?

Pycnogenol, derived from the bark of the French Maritime Pine, is a potent source of OPC activity. It is being successfully used, in lieu of drugs, to treat children and adults who suffer from Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

Pycnogenol works because it is a natural complex of antioxidants, comprised mainly of bioflavonoids and organic acids, that protect the body from free radical damage.

Pycnogenol strengthens the structural membranes of the blood vessels and reduces swelling, thereby improving blood circulation in the body. It also relaxes the blood vessels and causes a natural lowering of blood pressure.

Pycnogenol reduces symptoms of inflammation, which helps ease the pain associated with arthritis.

Even allergy sufferers benefit from the use of Pycnogenol, because of its antiviral, antihistamine properties.

Modern research has shown that red wine is actually good for you, something that Europeans have believed for centuries!

But, what the early wine drinkers probably didn't know was that the reason red wine is so good for us is because there is a high concentration of health promoting OPC activity in the grape skins and seeds!

The "must" that accumulates at the bottom of the wine cask after the grapes are crushed releases its nutritional arsenal of OPC's into the grape juice during the fermentation process.

Drinking a glass of red wine a day, therefore, offers a wonderful dose of antioxidants, taking full benefit of the antioxidant OPC activity.

However, drinking a glass of wine a day may not be agreeable to everyone --- so, how can we take adv of this marvelous, health-promoting substance without worrying about such things as fermentation and alcohol?

The answer - Grape Seed Extract.

Grape Seed Extract is available in many forms -- powdered, to make a delicious drink; capsules for convenience; and, in liquid 'oil' form, delicious on salads and vegetables.
