What is most important, of course, is what we eat .. and how we eat it.
Eating cooked foods will not, in itself, harm the body. It is sustenance. However, cooking leaches out many of the important nutrients vital to good health. Throwing out the water that your vegetables are cooked in leaves you mostly with tastless, mushy vegetables. All the nutrients are either cooked out and/or tossed down the drain.
Eating processed foods over a long period of time has shown to do great damage to the body --- early aging, dis-ease, weakened immune system, arthritis, cancer, diabetes, morbid obesity... the list grows, and grows every day. Yet, junk food outlets continue to flourish. Tsk, tsk! :)
Digesting processed, cooked foods taxes the entire system. It takes anywhere from 3 to 5 hours for the digestive organs to process and assimilate a meal.
Feed your body LIVE, whole foods easily, simply and quickly by adding raw fruit and vegetable juices to your diet every day.
On the other hand, a meal of raw fruit and/or vegetable juice is digested and assimilated within 10 to 15 minutes after ingestion. A raw liquid meal is entirely available for nourishment and regeneration of bodily cells and tissues, glands and organs. Speedy and efficient, raw juice is ready for immediate use.
Raw juice is NOT A CONCENTRATED FOOD. It is, however, the most nourishing source of food. Raw juice is also alkalyzing to the system, promoting a healthy atmosphere in which dis-ease cannot thrive.
Here is a list of juice combinations and their attributed uses. Please note all juices are based on 16 fluid ounces per serving:
1. Carrot Juice - A body normalizer -- 16 ounces of plain carrot juice is all-around health-giving juice, chocked full of the anti-oxidant beta-carotene. Excellent for eye problems, as an anti-carcinogenic, liver softener, firms the bowels, improves energy, increases red blood cells, strengthens bone, and is an excellent pre-natal tonic.
2. Carrot/Spinach Juice - 10 ounces of Carrot and 6 ounces of Spinach Juice (diluted 1:2 with distilled water) is one of the most powerful natural formulas available thru Mother Nature. Because of its alkalyzing effect on the system, it is an excellent soother for acidosis and helps with acid reflux, heartburn, and gastro-intestinal troubles. This combination is a perfect detoxicant and aids with anemia. Excellent for heart trouble, kidney troubles, hardening of the arteries, asthma and lung troubles. Aids with the flow of liver bile, helps to even out erratic blood pressure, and reduces mucus in the system. The combination of Carrot and Spinach is extremely alkalyzing to the body. An acid system promotes dis-ease, an alkaline system promotes optimum health.
3. Carrot/Celery/Parsley/Spinach Juice - 7 oz Carrot, 4 oz Celery, 2 oz Parsley and 3 oz Spinach (dilute 1:2 with distilled water, if you prefer) is an excellent body purifier, and helps to remove impurities. Detoxifies the body, organ by organ and guards against environmental toxins.
4. Carrot/Beet/Spinach Juice - 10 oz Carrot, 3 oz Beet, 3 oz Spinach. I've called this combination "The Happy Goddess" because it is a most joyous women's tonic, giving strength and support to the female organs.
5. Carrot/Cabbage Juice - 11 oz Carrot, 5 oz Cabbage. The cleansing properties of this combination helps to flush the system of impurities, especially in the bowel. Also, Cabbage Juice is an especially soothing tummy tonic.
6. Carrot/Celery/Cabbage Juice - 7 oz carrot, 5 oz celery, 4 oz cabbage. I've dubbed this combination "The Flusher" because it is an excellent natural diuretic and helps to whisk away excess fluids from the internal organs. Celery is an excellent diuretic by itself, but by adding it to anti-oxidant-rich Carrot and Cabbage, the entire urinary tract benefits.
7. Carrot/Beet/Cucumber Juice - 10 oz carrot, 3 oz beet, 3 oz cucumber. Wonderful support for excess calcifications in the system, such as kidney, and gall stones. Also excellent for bone spurs and plantar's warts -- naturally healing from the inside. Helpful for those who suffer from arthritis, as well.
8. Carrot/Apple/Ginger Juice - Add the juice of one crisp apple and one thin slice of fresh ginger to 14 ounces of carrot juice and you will have a tasty tummy soothing pick-me-up!
9. Carrot/Lemon/Garlic Juice - To 15 ounces of carrot juice, add the juice from one/quarter whole lemon and 4 cloves garlic. I usually run the lemon (skin and all) and garlic thru the Champion while I am juicing the carrots! This is absolutely the most delicious and healthful drink. Very soothing to the tummy, has an alkalyzing effect and promotes good health. All the benefits of alicin-rich garlic for lowered blood pressure and immune system support during cold and flu season, too!
10. Gazpacho Juice - Juice one tomato, one quarter green pepper, one quarter cucumber, one stalk celery, two cloves garlic, one quarter onion and a dash of tabasco! Tasty, cleansing and filling! I like to run three ice cubes thru the Champion while I'm juicing to make this drink real chilled! Oh YUM!
Don't stop here! There are an infinite number of juicing combinations. Get yourself a good book on juicing, such as "Juicing for Life" by Cherie Calbom and Maureen Keane, or, if you can find it, Dr. N.M.Walker's "Raw Vegetable Juices."
