COLONICS

Colonics and Colon Hydrotherapy

Colonics and Colon Hydrotherapy have been widely used for centuries as a treatment for ailments real and imagined. Back in the days when blood letting was in vogue, "clystering the colon" was a popular and accepted activity among high society folks.

Today, however, Colon Hydrotherapy is a far cry from blood letting and certainly more hygienic than the clystering of olden days. It is a safe, gentle treatment provided by a certified Colon Therapist in a comfortable, private and secure clinical setting. Colonics are a widely accepted alternative therapy for general well-being, as well as colon health.

A typical colonic therapy session is less offensive and invasive than a dental visit or doctor visit. The colonic procedure is administered by first gently inserting a small disposable speculum (which is attached to the colon hydrotherapy unit) into the rectum. Warm water is then passed into the colon for a few moments. Today's modern equipment makes it a very relaxing and comforting experience because the water and dislodged fecal matter is expelled gently thru the speculum into the units' closed evacuation system. There is no offensive odor, the client does not have to make a run for the john to release the fluid and waste, there is no soreness or anal discomfort, as may be associated with enemas, and the dignity of the client is not compromised in any way.

There is a lighted view tube with which the client can actually see the waste as it is transported out of the system. (Don't be too surprised if the colon hydrotherapist tells you what you had for lunch that day, or admonishes you for not properly chewing your food!)

The procedure is repeated, sometimes alternating between warm and cool water, and sometimes with abdominal massage to help dislodge hardened fecal matter from the colon walls. In about the 40 to 45 minutes it takes to complete the procedure, the colon will have been flushed a number of times and the body will have gently eliminated toxins and waste material equalling 20 to 30 bowel movements.

Colonics can safely be performed without fear that the body will become reliant upon them for elimination. Actually, colonic therapy improves the natural function of the colon by strengthening the intestinal muscle which promotes peristalsis (the muscular contractions that move waste material thru the bowel).

Depending upon an individual's state of health, colonic hydrotherapy may be sought monthly, every other month, every three or six months or even on a yearly basis. It is best to heed the recommendation of your colonic practitioner who will evaluate your personal situation and make an informed suggestion as to the best schedule for you.

You may notice that you will have lost anywhere from 5 to 10 pounds after your first colonic hydrotherapy session. Additionally, you may also notice the necessity to urinate afterwards because the body becomes hydrated from the procedure. Some people feel energized and more alert after a colonic, while others feel totally relaxed. For sure, the one thing you will be after colonic hydrotherapy is on the road to optimum good health.
