Greetings One and All ....
Welcome summer to the northern hemisphere and winter to the southern hemisphere! In the northern hemisphere, the solstice ushers in the first day of summer by distinguishing itself as the longest day of the year, while in the southern hemisphere, the solstice marks the longest day of the year and inhabitants can look forward to increasgingly longer days.
Traditionally, summer and winter solstice has been observed by spiritual and religious celebrations over a period of days in June in the northern hemisphere and December in the southern hemisphere. The word ‘solstice’ comes from the Latin words “sol” meaning sun and “sistere” meaning to stand-still. It is derived from the idea that the sun appeared to actually stand still due to the length of daylight.
Summer solstice was considered a time of celebration between planting and harvesting the crops. This was also a time when lovers would be united in marriage, which still holds true today, as June is often thought of as the ‘brides’ month. In ancient days, the newly married couple would be fed foods prepared with honey for the first few weeks of their marriage – hence, the ‘honeymoon’ period, which was believed to insure fertility.
Metaphysically, summer solstice marks the last day of Gemini in the northern hemisphere, whereas in the southern hemisphere, winter solstice marks the transition from Sagittarius to Capricorn -- a time of contemplation and consideration of one’s perceptions of life. During this period, it is a time to reflect upon the way we see things in our lives, the key here being how we perceive things in our own individual way.
Each of us is different, and as such, we each have a unique way of perceiving our experiences. Perhaps now would be a good time for us to examine our thoughts and the way we think. What occurs in our lives many times begin as a thought, which is then manifest into the physical. The same pertains to our dreams.
In the northern hemisphere, we experience more daylight – longer waking hours. In the southern hemisphere, our daylight availability is at its shortest and we have longer sleeping hours. Let’s use this time to our advantage and listen more to our waking experiences and sleeping experiences.
Dreamtime experiences often result and/or incorporate that which is experienced during waking state. Keeping our waking thoughts and actions based in the positive will carry over into our dreams. Our positive thoughts flow outwardly into the Universe carried upon the strength of our actions and are then picked up by those who are tuned into the Universal Mind – our connection to the All That Is and therefore our connection to each other.
We are all interconnected, no matter in which part of Mother Earth we live. All Is One and All is blessed.
Be blessed ... Rev. Bee
